Perkins, the engineering company of Peterborough, will be exhibiting their Greenpower Racing car at the April show. This vehicle is the work of the company’s apprentices and forms part of their course of study. Not only is the vehicle constructed to meet the specifications stipulated by Greenpower, it is entered in races against other Greenpower participants.
The purpose of Greenpower Racing construction and competition is to inspire the next generation of engineers, to motivate them to learn skills in an interesting and exciting context, and to use them in practical situations.
The photograph above shows the Perkins vehicle taking part in the Greenpower Racing season’s opening event at Rockingham Speedway in May 2015. The electric-powered vehicles taking part were the work of company apprentices, technology colleges and other educational establishments. Read more about this event here.
