Grantham Light Armoured Division tanks on patrol

GLAD people and tanksLast weekend, at the Surfleet Railway and Model Engineering Show, we caught up with the Grantham Light Armoured Division radio-controlled tanks that featured in the event. They were mainly a static display of models with members talking to visitors about the tanks as models and as fearsome weapons. However, a couple of models were “fired up” and driven around. It was fascinating to hear the sound chips emulating the actual sound of the tank, and great to watch the whole vehicle recoil as it loosed off an (imaginary!) shell.

The models featured at the Surfleet show were based on tanks and armoured vehicles from WW2 up to the present day. Here are  few photographs to whet your appetite for the much bigger display they will be putting on at our Spalding show at the end of April. Here they will have their battle landscape and multiple vehicles negotiating it. There will also be a couple of tanks for visitors to try their skills with.
